Now that series 2 has made the point about torsional mode ultrasound used in haemostatic tissue cutting, we are able to deliver the full solution. Lotus™ series 3 will represent the most effective and convenient integrated ultrasonic scalpel system ever offered to surgeons.

Hooks

We will launch the Lotus laparoscopic and open hook scalpels towards the end of 2005. Both will comprise a reusable torsional hook waveguide inside a passive single use sleeve. These devices are suitable for mastectomy and selected laparoscopic upper and lower GI procedures.

Series 3 Shears

The series 2 shears have demonstrated the tissue effect of the torsion scalpel. We are now adding the ergonomic necessities for the complete ultrasonic shears: finger switch control, acoustic axis rotation and a curved dissecting blade and jaw. From the beginning of 2006 the Series 3 Shears will provide the surgeon with very fast and effective cut and coagulation with a fine curved instrument for delicate dissection.
